The next poultry order will be from US Wellness meats. These chickens are on pasture but are supplemented with feed containing Non-GMO soy and corn. They receive only about 1/3 the amount of supplication feed as regular grocery store chicken would normally consume. You can check out their website, www.grasslandbeef.com. The order and payment will be due Friday December 9^th. Delivery will be December 15^th at 11am. The chicken will be delivered at the same time as the beef order.

Drumsticks: $20.00   5.0 lbs

Free range chicken drumsticks are primed and ready for your favorite barbecue sauce. Enjoy!
4 drumsticks per package. Weight per package averages 1.5 pounds.

 

Chicken Leg Quarters: $27.00   5.0 lbs

 Each package contains approximately 5 or 6 leg quarters, which include the chicken thigh and drumstick.

 

 

Chicken Breast: $9.00   1.0 lbs

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts from free range chickens raised antibiotic and hormone free.  Each package contains two 0.5 pound chicken breasts, 1.0 pound total package weight.

10 pounds of boneless breasts are the center piece in this 20 pound package. A 10 pound combination of thighs, wings and drumsticks round out the gourmet free range experience.

4 Soy-Free Whole Chicken:    $126.00    4.6 lbs

Here it is – a perfect dinner centerpiece: our whole free range chickens are now available soy-free.  These birds have been grazing green South Carolina pastures without a hint of soy in their diets. Each box contains 4 birds averaging 4.6 lbs each.

 

Soy-Free Chicken Parts:    $180.00     20lbs

Our first batch of chickens raised without any soy in their diet are ready to go.  This bundle contains at least 8 lbs of boneless, skinless chicken breasts (one per bag), 8 lbs of chicken leg quarters (2 per bag) and 2-4 lbs of wings (8 per bag) for a total of 20 lbs of chicken parts.

Since last poultry order I have been searching and comparing different options for healthy yet affordable chicken. So I have come up with  two options, the first being Rainbow Ranch Farms (which we ordered in September) and the second US Wellness Meats. The Rainbow Ranch chicken was fabulous yet was somewhat pricey but offered an option for those with the desire to keep soy, corn, and hybrid wheat out of their diets. Us Wellness offers pastured chicken that is still out on the range but supplements with a Organic Non-GMO feed which includes corn and soy. They are now offering a soy free chicken that I hope will be an available option for us. I am also planning to include another order of beef tallow through US Wellness.

 

I have already posted information for the Rainbow Ranch chicken and will have a separate post with the US Wellness options. I hope to have a regular resource of good, real chicken in the near future, until then here’s to our continued pursuit of real food in the Las Vegas Valley!

There will be another opportunity to buy chicken from Rainbow Ranch Farms! The chicken was fantastic (even though the birds were pretty small)! It is so hard to find chicken raised how they are at Rainbow Ranch.
We are able to get a better price this time because I have  friends who are willing to swing by the farm on the way home from their Thanksgiving trip, this will cut out the cost of gas.  But we have to be quick with our order, all orders need to be in and payed for by November 23rd!  Please scroll down for more information.

This is an awesome price for soy free, corn free! Other places they are $40 a chicken!! Those with grain sensitivities should not be eating grain fed chicken.

 Today is the last day to get your chicken orders in!

I know many people are not used to cooking a whole chicken but please do not let this deter you from trying one. There are so many ways to enjoy using the whole bird! I will be posting several ideas and recipes for using whole chickens which are quite cost effective. So take the plung and try something new!

  If the cost of buying chickens in bulk is not working for you we can buy individual chickens. They will be the same price as the packaged chicken as long we purchase at least 20 chickens at a time. So if you would like to order in smaller quantities please let me know and I will just keep filling slots until we reach our 20 or more.
